Wood You Please Save The Apes? A wood block print by 8 year old Scout Dingman. Our first entry in the Young Artists Category. Scout Dingman is an eight year old girl who lives in Miami, Florida. For the past three years, she has raised money for the Center for Great Apes by asking friends to bring donations, not presents, to her birthday parties. As a result, she has raised close to $2000 for the sanctuary. When she grows up, she wants to be an artist, work for the Center for Great Apes and start a business with her Dad.
During art camp this summer, Scout told her instructors about the Art4Apes contest. For the block-print carving project, she created the Save the Apes piece. This print uses black ink and brown paper.
Well done, Scout, for being the first Young Artist to enter and congratulations on your amazing fundraising achievements.
Young Artists, with birthdays on or after October 3rd, 1997, can enter the contest with a reduced donation of $5 and they are eligible for $500 worth of prizes and a place in the exhibition.
