Mixed Media on wood, resin, LED lights change colors! The population of this south Asian gibbon has declined by over 90% since the early 70s. Today less than 5,000 survive. The forests that western hoolock gibbons require to live are continually being cut and converted into farmland.
I'm looking at our planet and it seems to be getting smaller and everything seems to be connected to the whole. I'm interested in the consequences of human behavior. How much responsibility do we have and what do we owe to the planet if we are to be the most intelligent species? My artwork consists of and features endangered and recently extinct species while using old social publications documenting people's interests! It aims to bring lost creatures back to life, bring attention and admiration by putting those extinct animals up on a pedestal and create a monument. My endangered animals however have a potential to draw human attention to existing species that we share our planet with and which are of course endangered due to modern encroachment. My artwork reflects our society. My mission is to bring about awareness through my artwork.
