Tuah. Photograph by Charlotte Figgins. All Rights Reserved. A 2 year old orphan Orangutan residing at Utah's Hogle Zoo.
This photo is of Tuah, the 2 year old orphan Male Orangutan at Utah's Hogle Zoo. His mother died a few weeks after giving birth and Tuah was hand raised by zoo keepers. His playful disposition despite his unfortunate circumstances shows the controversy of Zoos in its full form. Where does the line fall when it comes to protecting endangered species and letting them fend for themselves in the wild? Because of our knowledge of these species Tuah lives a healthy life in a zoo habitat today and had he been in the wild he wouldn't have survived. His cheerful adolescence is what I hope will provide enough proof that these species are special, and close relatives of ours. It is our duty to keep the species alive and sustain their wild habitats for future generations. Taken with a Canon Rebel T2i
