My work initiates a conversation about our complicated relationship to animals. I meticulously engrave images of vulnerable species and pair them with irony and word play to light-heartedly advertise poignant issues in the animal kingdom caused by humans. My current occupation as a commercial sign artist has heightened my awareness in marketing interest to consumers with increasingly short attention spans and apathy. While advertisements are ubiquitous, our exposure to wildlife is sparse. By utilizing familiar marketing strategies as well as the original mass communicator - printmaking - my work attempts to revitalize the intrinsic value of wild animals in need of our attention.
