Splash by Anita McComas. All Rights Reserved. I do not simplify my subjects, but rather layer color and irregular, seemingly random, brushstrokes on the canvas in an impressionistic style with abstract elements. From up close, the canvas is a maze of unstructured strokes of color, irregular, interwoven, multilayered and complex. This is my vision of the world, harsh elements, sharp lines, rough shapes, and random pops of color that blend and harmonize as we step back and gaze into the subject matter from a distance.
In ‘Splash’ we see the Polar Bear struggling in his warming habitat. He looks beseechingly out of the canvas as if asking for help.
