I, Snow Leopard by Margo Lemieux. All Rights Reserved.
Beauty is in the momentary, in the fleeting, in the things we cannot keep; a bird song, a dramatic cloud formation, and the extraordinary grace of an angled shadow on a floor. As a child, I remember being fascinated with the flow of shadows as the breeze tickled the leaves on a sunny day. My art seeks to recapture moments in time to hold them for a while longer.
Recently, I have been focusing on the disappearing natural environment, reflected most effectively in the imagery of the snow leopard, a magnificent and endangered creature. The snow leopard is of its environment, a part of the rocks and hills and valleys. in this story, I chose to pair the two in a yin/yang composition with powerful excerpts from the words of “I, Snow Leopard” by the Chinese poet Jidi Majia.
