Endangered, Sheet glass, vitreous enamels, by Tamara Coatsworth. All Rights Reserved. Silkscreened and lampworked glass replica of a box of matches. I sculpt with the memories. I bring them to life in glass, representing the ephemeral nature of our experiences. Sometimes they are real, like the smell of popcorn or the limitless potential in a new box of crayons. Some moments are less tangible; the rising mist off a waterfall or the explosion of color in a field of flowers.
Glass is the perfect medium for my sculptures. In the hands of an artist it can appear hard or soft, bright or subdued. It gives weight and permanence to transient feelings.
