"Many species are endangered because humans use them to excess. Jewellery often symbolizes an excess of wealth, and ironically is often made from animals. My piece 'Eggless' is made from Eggshells which in a nest show new life, but as a necklace, show the consumption of life. I am a full time, independent jewellery artist with my Masters in jewellery design. From my home studio in Harriston, Ontario I craft wearable, unique pieces of jewellery.
When I’m not running my full time, fine jewellery business, I enjoy creating wearable art that deals with the female body in relationship to the animal body. My work explores the gap between our identity as humans and our existence as animals. By creating jewellery crafted from human and animal materials, I bring our attention to the vast difference between how we treat our own bodies in comparison to animal bodies, both alive and dead."
