These small painted boxes depict the full life cycles and habitats of creatures facing threats of extinction due to human activities. I began with insects and amphibians as these are the bio- indicators of trouble. I have also made an effort to include creatures that have symbiotic links, such as mudpuppies and salamander snails. my main interest has been with creatures from midwestern states near my home here in Illinois.
