What's In Your Breakfast? Photograph by Kelli Barritt. All Rights Reserved. Colo, a western lowland gorilla was the first gorilla to be born in captivity and the oldest gorilla in captivity.
Photographed at Columbus Zoo, Colo wears a box of cereal as a bonnet.
Many breakfast cereals and other products we use daily contain palm oil and it's derivatives.
Oil palm plantations known more for the destruction of orangutan habitat, are now encroaching elsewhere. According to a study published in the journal "Current Biology", "Sixty percent of African oil palm concessions, or land that's been set aside for the development of oil plantations overlaps with apes habitats."
It's my hope that we all become more "Palm Oil Aware", read labels and make our consumer shopping choices palm oil free.
