Acrylic paint, canvas, Aboriginal Pointillism technique. "The Blue Iguana, native only to Grand Cayman, was critically endangered in 2008. Only 20 remained on the island. With my help, and the help of many others, we raised $20,000 to bring them back from the brink of extinction. This painting celebrates this rare creature's beauty and intriguing appearance. My artwork is largely inspired by the ocean, and the creatures that inhabit its depths. I was drawn to the sea when I started spending my childhood summers in the Cayman Islands. The culture, nature, and people of the island influenced the person I am today, and because of the time that I spent there, I continue to explore that theme when I create. It brings me joy to give others insight into a virtually unexplored underwater world through my creations. I recognize that some may never be as lucky as I have been to explore marine ecosystems, and therefore, I long to bring that sense of wonder and intrigue into my pieces that I feel when I am swimming amongst the reefs."
