In the eastern part of the origin, especially along the border of Yunnan and Myanmar, it is more common, but it is not a common species (Roberts and Gittleman 1984). An estimate based on the lowest average population density (4.4km²/1 bird) and the total potential habitat area (142,000km², which is only half of the actual use area) shows that the global population of this species is about 10,000. In the past 50 years, due to the large-scale reduction of habitat and the impact of human hunting activities, the population of this species has decreased by 40%.
