ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2020 Submission
The endangered species I picked is called the Sunda tiger also known as the Sumatran tiger. They are the smallest of their species and they tend to be more bearded and maned than other subspecies. They once prowled across several parts of the Sunda islands in Indonesia. The gaze and detail of the tiger's face caught my eye immediately. I also enjoyed creating the impression of the fur and mane. 'Endless Gaze' was painted with oils on a 16" x 20" plywood board. Approximately 400 Sunda tigers survive and are only found in Sumatra. Thankfully the tigers numbers are slowly recovering today.
