ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
Having never seen a chimp in person before it was such a great experience to see some up close at the Miami Zoo! While there I was able to capture a picture of this one who appeared to be looking off into the distance dreaming. It gave me sense of hope and connection; he was an amazing animal.
Over the last few years my passion for wildlife has surpassed any other love or interest. The rate that we are losing animals due to human greed and climate change is extremely alarming, and action must be taken in every single part of the world to protect species at risk. Having been lucky enough to attend last year's exhibition, I met extraordinary artists who share the same love as I do, all of whom have inspired me to continue fighting for endangered species' protection. Organizations such as the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Jane Goodall Institute, and Orangutan Foundation International are doing incredible work to help save our closest living relatives from extinction, and I applaud their dedication and life's work. As human beings it is our duty to stand up for those who don't have a voice -- the fate of all animals on planet Earth depend on it.
