ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
This piece was named in honor of Baye Pigor's story of the promise she made to a little orphaned baboon named 'Umfazi' and the subsequent founding of 'Free To Be Wild' Zimbabwe's first primate sanctuary at the age of 24.
Animals and nature have always brought me the most joy. I would spend hours taking in all the details of the habitats that surrounded me. Today, with graphite and charcoal (and the occasional colored pencil) I try to bring the viewer in for a closer look, to take in the details just as I did as a child and see that same beauty in nature. By connecting with my work, hopefully they will be inspired to help advocate and protect those who need us.
