ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission.
I create one of a kind fine jewelry in gold and silver using genuine gemstones and pearls. I use both the lost wax casting process and fabrication techniques in my creations. The lost wax casting process involves creating a casting mold from a hand carved sculpture design in wax that is burnt out in a kiln to create the hollow form for molten metal. The pieces are then broken out of the mold, cleaned and polished and then set with their respective gemstones. The fabrication techniques I use include piercing, forming, soldering and forging. These processes involve taking gold and silver sheet and wire and manipulating them to create the desired effect. The ultimate goal is combining both areas of metalworking design to create unique pieces of work that achieve the vision that I have in mind.
