The finless porpoise is a mammal of the genus Finless in the family Cetacea, Porpoiseidae, and is known as the "giant panda in the water." Habitat pollution, by-catch by fishing boats, and overfishing have aggravated the decline of fishery resources, reducing the food for finless porpoises. The construction of gates and dams along the river has blocked the channels for migratory fish to swim to spawning grounds, posing a threat to the survival and reproduction of finless porpoises. threatened. The finless porpoise is listed as Critically Endangered (CR) by the World Conservation Union (IUCN). It is listed as a Class I protected animal under the Washington Convention (CITES).
