Over the last few years my passion for wildlife has surpassed any other love or interest. The rate that we are losing animals due to human greed and climate change is extremely alarming, and action must be taken in every single part of the world to protect species at risk. Having attended the last two exhibitions, I've met extraordinary artists and activists (such as Patti Ragan, Phoenix, Ron Magill, & Rickie Leiter) who share the same love as I do, all of whom have inspired me to continue fighting for endangered species' protection. Organizations such as the Ellen Fund, Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, Jane Goodall Institute, and Orangutan Foundation International are doing incredible work to help save our closest living relatives from extinction, and I applaud their dedication and life's work. As human beings it is our duty to stand up for those who don't have a voice -- the fate of all animals on planet Earth depend on it.

Something I love about art is you get to be as creative as you want. This chimpanzee is part of a coloured animal series i started last year which takes on the realism of an animal in a creative colourful way.
I am a 16 year old student who enjoys photography and art. I currently attend a specialised arts school which constantly has my creativity flowing. Aside from art I've always had a love for animals and most recently, capturing their essence through photography.

The endangered species I picked for the Endangered Apes competition is called the Amur Leopard. Amur Leopards are a subspecies of leopard except they live in colder climates and have thicker coats than normal leopards. Their coats are colored in creamy yellow to rusty orange depending on what their climate is usually like and live in northeast Russia and China. The gaze pose and attractiveness in the picture that the leopard expressed was fascinating and interesting to me. I discovered how to create an impression for the fur and depth in the painting as well as how to create a different sense of focus to accentuate the gaze and expression in the leopard's face. This was also one of my first completed oil paintings in this size (17 x 23). Today only about 84 are recorded living in the wild now we are gradually helping raise the numbers and becoming more aware about them.
I am a 13 year old young artist living in Miami, FL. The subjects I'm most interested in are portraits of animals and humans; capturing the fur textures, skin tones, and expressions. I also look at different compositions, perspectives and poses. I am most interested in oil paints as a medium, but I also find pastel, pencil, and watercolors exciting as well. I'm also interested in exploring still-life as a subject and building techniques in shading and value to add to my overall skill set. I aim to continue building my skills to be able to capture expressive emotions and movement.

This moment was captured at the Miami zoo of an African elephant peacefully playing in the water. The effect of the droplets in front of the prodigious creature created a gorgeous scene for a photograph to be taken. I've always loved the awe and beauty of elephants which inspired this photo.

This is an acrylic painting of a baby manatee. I have manatees in the canal in my back yard in Miami Shores, Florida, USA. When the Mommy Manatee comes her Baby Manatee is with her. Manatees are an Endangered Species so we should not try to harm them and we should protect them.

The painting depicts the Philippine eagle in it's natural habitat and the various forms of human influence that endanger it's existence.
As an individual with Filipino heritage, I have a particular interest in the survival of my country's national bird. The Philippine Eagle faces a multitude of issues including deforestation and hunting that affect the species' survival. I find it especially important to display all the threats these birds face for merely existing.

"Ghost Wolf" - Wolves are the spirits of the wild, so when the environment disappears, so do they. Although wolves are not considered endangered, they are still vulnerable to our actions. If we do not protect their habitat, these beautiful creatures will become the ghosts of the past. We must save them now before it's too late.

Endangered species. The Macaws population has been decreasing gradually from rapid rates of deforestation, hunting, and the illegal trapping for the pet trades. So I wanted to show a breed of Macaw trapped in its natural environment of South America.

A watercolor illustration that captures the humble beauty of sea turtles and their importance for the ecosystems on earth.
In many folklore stories, the earth is described as a flat disk that is held by three elephants who stand on top of a giant turtle. This of course is only a story, but it has a grain of truth in it. Turtles do look like they could hold the entire world on their backs. They have a unique kind of beauty. Slow but strong, majestic yet humble.
A sailor would see only the castle from their ship deck, but if they dive underwater, they will see that the castle is held by a gentle animal who quietly swims to their destination. If the turtle dies, the castle will sink. If the giant turtle who lets the elephants stand on top of it disappears, our entire world will end.
Like all creatures on this earth, sea turtles are a part of a complicated web. If you remove them, whole ecosystems will be thrown off balance. In a way, turtles do hold our world on their backs, along with the lion, elephant, snake, bug, and every other animal or plant.
