Over the last three years, my love for animals has grown significantly into a passion, and now I dedicate my time to learning more about endangered species and their conservation. The cruelty that surrounds us each and every day is truly heartbreaking, many animals taken from us for the sole purpose of making money. The efforts from organizations such as The Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund, WildAid, WWF, The Jane Goodall Institute, and Florida's very own Center for Great Apes gives me hope for the future of endangered species across the globe. I may only be fifteen years old, however, I know that my future work is laid out in front of me; I will fight with all I have to save endangered species from extinction.

Grizzly Bears are threatened in my home state of Washington. Mothers of the species often die from gunshot wounds they receive trying to protect their cubs. Those cubs grow up without a mother, a fate none would wish on a human child.

I chose the South Asian elephant because before researching endangered animals I had never heard of that breed of elephant. I am also southeastern Asian and hits close to my heart. When I was little I used to watch Dumbo as a kid and admired his bravery. Ever since Elephants have been one of my favorite animals.

The Amur Leopards are critically endangered. There are less than 60 in the whole world. People hunt them for their beautiful fur which they make into fur coats. I wanted to show people how beautiful the Amur Leopard’s fur is in the light and leave the cut in the shadows because most of the time people either choose to ignore the pain they cause the animal or they don’t know or care.

The Greater Sage Grouse is an interesting bird occupying sagebrush in the US and Canada. They have beautiful tail feathers and large yellow sacs on their chests that are inflated during mating rivals. However, their species is inn decline due to habitat loss and are considered a threatened species by many organizations.

In this animal project, we are talking about endangered and threatened species that are having a hard time living in the wild. The cause of this is that animals are suffering from the lumberjack people in the forest, causing them to lose shelter, the loss of water by people using for farms, drinking water, agriculture and for dumping in the ocean for flood control and poaching by people killing animals for food and selling them to zoos. Our class has gathered information by using endangered species such as the Florida Panther or the songbirds and other types of plants and animals.

Silver Back Gorillas are phenomenal animals that are at risk of being extinct. They are being hunted and killed by poachers they are losing their homes in the wild due to habitat destruction and clearing forests for agriculture and setting charcoal. If something is not done, these amazing gorillas will no longer exist.
