SUBMISSION: Beauty of Nature by Eden Znaty
Beauty of Nature by Young Artist Eden Znaty. All Rights Reserved. The Green Peafowl has been classified as an endangered species since 2012. They are ranged from 10,000 and 20,000 specimens. The reason I chose the peacock is because of their beautiful feathers and variety of colors. They are said to be nuisance to farmer’s crops. Because of that, farmers poison them which leads to extinction due to human structural development. They are driven out of their habitats with no home left. As you can see peacocks are such a beautiful species and are very under-appreciated.

YOUNG ARTIST 3RD PRIZE: Colorless by Elizabeth Kachanova
We are pleased to announce the Third Prize in the Young Artist category in the ENDANGERED Art & Photography Contest 2016. Colorless by Elizabeth Kachanova. All Rights Reserved.
Black and white portrait of a bongo antelope.
These beautiful creatures have been affected by habitat loss and hunting, which could lead to them becoming threatened. They have already begun to disappear from some territories.
Bongos have very stunning chestnut colored coats with brown and white patterns throughout their bodies. If they die out, then we will no longer be able to see their charming colors.
By depicting the bongo in black and white, I hope to make the viewer ponder the true colors of the bongo, and realize that if they die out, then we will never be able to truly see their colors.
Congratulations, Elizabeth!

SUBMISSION: Majestic African Sunset by Mia Gifford
Young Artist Entry to the ENDANGERED Art & Photography Contest 2016Majestic African Sunset, acrylic, palmetto, canvas by Young Artist Mia Gifford. All Rights Reserved.
According to the WWF website, "Numbering three to five million in the last century, African elephant populations were severely reduced to its current levels because of hunting. In the 1980s, an estimated 100,000 elephants were killed each year and up to 80% of herds were lost in some regions. In recent years, growing demand for ivory, particularly from Asia, has led to a surge in poaching. Populations of elephants—especially in southern and eastern Africa—that once showed promising signs of recovery could be at risk due to the recent surge in poaching for the illegal ivory trade."
The elephant is a majestic beauty worthy of attention in order to keep educating the public about their presence which helps to maintain suitable habitats for many other species as well as their important role in seed dispersal.
This 3D piece showcases entitled, "Majestic African Sunset" incorporates palmetto pieces and acrylic on canvas.
