These young chimpanzees at Ape Action Africa primate sanctuary in Cameroon delight in catching bubbles one of many enrichment activities organized by the volunteers and staff. It is important to keep these highly intelligent and clever apes stimulated and challenged when they cannot be in the wild.

Bella the mandrill came to Ape Action Africa primate sanctuary in Cameroon as an orphaned youngster where I got to care for her. With enviable agility (like most mandrills) and an effervescent personality she sometimes twirled upside down on a limb to grin at her caregivers. Here she is as the elegant mother raising her own young.

I took this picture in Cabarceno Natural Park Spain. For this shot I waited for the sun dissapear behind the rocks darkering the background but with backlight on the mom bear and her cubs.
