ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission Several times a year a water treatment plant opens its business for photographers and birders to participate in a bird count. We came across this majestic eagle during a count Sept. 2018. It was so thrilling to see this beautiful bird. SUBMISSION: Mina The Gentle by Mike Talladen
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission A famous orangutan in norther Sumatra Mina is known for being aggressive. Mina is nothing more than a gentle mother caring for her son and the victim of one too many close encounters with irresponsible guides and tourists attempting to get a closer look. She was rescued from illegal captivity and eventually re-released into the Gunung Leuser ecosystem and has since been attacked over 10 times by machete for being "aggressive." I feel her sons timidness and her watchful eye are a good representation of the fragility of Indonesia's rainforests. Losing their homes to oil palm and paper pulp plantations hunted for illegal pets and killed for no reason Sumatran orangutans are now critically endangered with their forests shrinking more every day. ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission Morning light shining through shimmering on the gentle brook below I could have sat underneath this tree all day. I came to photograph Tork Waterfall yet this magical tree's allure drew my attention. Perhaps the forest fairies resided here. Photographed at Killarney National Park Co. Kerry the first national park in Ireland created when Muckross Estate was donated to the Irish Free State in 1932. It has been said that the camera reflects both ways. As an artist, every vision I capture through my camera's lens is a reflection of my heart being touched by the soul of wild places. Like a meditation of light--color, texture, structure, pattern and composition--it awakens an inner peace and knowingness. With each image, it is my desire that viewers are inspired to love, cherish and protect the fragile beauty and wonder that is nature as they reconnect with that inner peace.

Nature has so much beauty to offer, and many times, we are so busy that we don't have the time to enjoy the land and animals that surround us.
A small Eastern Bluebird guarding his nest several years ago caught my attention, and thus began my passion for photographing my surroundings.
It is my desire that my nature photography offers the viewer a quiet moment to reflect on and enjoy the many gifts nature has to offer.

I started travelling with my wife after college, and along with that, quickly developed a deep passion for observing and photographing wildlife. 16 years later and I have traveled to all 7 continents and both Polar Regions, always looking for opportunities to photograph wildlife in its native habitat. While I enjoy viewing and photographing all wildlife, primates have always held a special place in my heart. Perhaps it’s their close relation to us genetically, but watching them interact is always a highlight for me. I just hope that my photography can in some way help show those that can’t experience it first hand, just how amazing and important these creatures are to all of us and our planet.

SUBMISSION: No Pictures Please by Steven Pressman
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2018 Submission.
Nature Photography became a passion & hobby for me some years ago after my first trip to Galapagos Islands.
My latest journey was to Uganda to see the Chimpanzees and Gorillas in the Kabali & Bwindi forests respectfully.
It is quite the adventure to see the chimpanzees and gorillas in their natural habitats. Their actions and vocal communications can be quite exhilarating.

I started Adventure Nature Travel about 10 years ago or so. My first trip was to the Galapagos Islands. That's where I became hooked on nature. Since then I have traveled the world. It wasn't till some time later, when I had some pictures blown up and mounted, that I discovered the pictures I've been taking were really good. So now, I have a website (that is in the process of being updated) and I have been selling my work in the form of mouse pads, mugs, easels, mounted and framed photos in the pharmacy I own in South Florida. The website is www.yougottalovenature.com - www.YGLN.US for short.
