I love photographing nature, landscapes, sunsets, beaches and much more. I experience peace being surrounded by nature. I feel that everyone should see the beauty in nature so I capture it with photography. I believe that South Florida has so much to see on a daily basis that you can miss it as life passes. My work captures those places and moments in time. I feel that all other places have the same heart and soul as South Florida does.

I endeavor to create images that display the beauty and vitality of these birds while in motion. The wonder of their performances viewed through their endangered status, hopefully contributes to citizen concern and action.

Photographing endangered wildlife is my way of sharing with others the beauty of life in the wild that all of us do not have the opportunity to see firsthand.

While traveling the California Coast we stopped at Elephant Seal Vista Point, in San Luis Obispo County. Beautiful day, lots of Seals, what a wonderful sight! Then I spotted the plastic drinking bottle, no way to get to it. did someone throw it down the hill or did it wash ashore? So sad to see and couldn't do anything to help.

A photograph can take several minutes to construct in the cameras viewfinder, or even hours waiting for the right sunlight. However, the image gets locked into time immortal in a millisecond with one press of the shutter.

I can remember always taking pictures as a kid with my "box" camera. In middle school I was a part of the photography club and learned about composition, developing and printing in the darkroom. At that time, I would anxiously await the results of my pictures, which of course were black and white. The next phase for many of us was slides, and oh, do we have tons of slides!! Now digital has taken over, (no waiting) but I work hard to get the picture "right" in the camera, thus needing little to no enhancement. As I travel I shoot unique, beautiful places to share the wonderful world of nature that surrounds us. Exploring out of the way places, I work to show "the ordinary as extraordinary". It is my hope that these pictures will remind people to take action locally to preserve this beautiful country and its natural resources before it is too late.

My diving and photography career has spanned over thirty years, and I have witnessed the deterioration of the ecosystem known as Gaia. In my dive travels, I have attempted to capture the essence of the underwater world in all its vigor, color, and fascination. In my adventure travels I have tried to capture an animal’s essence. Through the medium of photography, I provide the viewer with their own intimate view of the natural world both with regard to its ecosystem but also its artistic potential. Consequently, each individual arrives at their own interpretation of Gaia. Over the course of the last several years my underwater photography has evolved into photographing living mollusks as art. My land photography has evolved into the story of nature. These four photographs represent the culmination of many years of photographing living creatures in their natural environment. Unfortunately, as the oceans change along with all of Gaia- plundered and modified by man's actions.

My current work reflects my interest in responding empathetically to nature, to the seemingly mundane, to glimpses of life in the present moment. I want to capture the land and its inhabitants. Each glimpse is a quiet presence of animals, people, and the space they occupy. This contemplative and active space provides the opportunity to linger in the process of being: waiting for moments, creating moments, and developing awareness. My hand-pulled polymer gravure prints from original photographs capture passing recognitions that speak of the spaces we all inhabit and reflect our oneness. The polymer gravure prints begin as original photographs that are printed on transparencies and transferred to metal plates pre-coated with a layer of light-sensitive emulsion. The etching process takes place under an exposure light unit and a water wash. The resulting matrix is hand printed through a press using non-toxic inks on Stonehenge paper.

Retired psychotherapist, but very active photographer. Attended Colorado Institute of Art in 1981-82. Now very concerned about the increasing endangerment of African wildlife due to global warming, pesticides, poaching, and habitat loss. I'm trying to document what may be gone in another generation.
