You Toucan' painting was inspired by a trip to Costa Rica where we stayed up the mountains overlooking the ocean and were surrounded by Toucan with their morning and evening calls. Habitat loss is a constant menace to the toucan's population. Deforestation of rainforests in order to create farmlands destroys the toucan's natural habitat in the high canopy. They are hit with the fallen trees and killed from impact. They are hunted for food and also kept as pets and their plumage and bills used for decoration. Unfortunately they are easily caught due to lack of flying skills.

This painting was inspired by 'Fiona' our local orphaned Jaguar at the Palm Beach Zoo during a plein air painting outing. The Jaguar is the 3rd largest cat in the world and has the strongest bite. These beautiful big cats are a threatened species due to habitat loss poaching and retaliatory killings.

This oil painting completed on a 12x12 primed stretched canvas is custom framed in a museum-quality mahogany frame. As with most of my wildlife subjects my concentration is on their eyes. In fact, when painting I start with the eyes. This gives me an introduction to who I am working with.

This osprey nest sat in a dyeing pine tree for three years until a tropical storm that the tree down. If you look closely there is an adult bird and a fledgling about to leave the nest. It simbolizes the balance of life many birds face today. Soft pastel with under painting.

Critically endangered only about 200 of these beautiful cats roam in South Florida. They are susceptible to many major threats. Many have been killed on the roads and highways of Florida being forced from their habitat by construction etc. They need our help. There are a few big Cat Preserves.

This drawing is one of the most hyper-realistic pieces I have drawn because it has emotion depth perspective composition contrast and detail. The title speaks for itself in that both tigers are sweetly embracing each other one being embraced as the other looks over into the distance of the sunset.

My friend and his wife are doing their part to save the bees. The world without pollinators would be unlike any we have previously known. It's debatable whether humans would survive.

While paddling through a mangrove tunnel I can upon this juvenile heron. Mangrove forests are a quiet and safe place for seabirds to rest while protecting coral reefs and providing a nursery for both fish and shellfish.

The Orca Whale in b&w anchors the whirlwind of color and pattern that revolves around it. The backround hieroglyphics tell a story of mans impact on nature that includes rising sea levels a dead sea bottom indiscriminate netting industrialization air pollution deforestation wild fires mining loss of biodiversity overhunting and carbon emission. 22 animals make up this visual tapestry.

This Silverback at the San Diego Zoo was inspired by a visit with my family several months ago. I was drawn to the stance it had taken as visitors tried to get its attention behind the thick glass. It turned and quietly stared for a few moments before sitting down with its back to the crowd.

The migratory monarch butterfly population has decreased by over 80% over the last three decades largely due to human use of herbicides. It's easy to think of ourselves and only ourselves. However the first step towards conservation is recognition. Recognizing that we are part of something much greater than ourselves. I paint what I love and I love above all else the world we live in and the creatures who inhabit it.
