ENDANGERED: Art4Apes is delighted to announce that Deborah LaFogg-Docherty is our May 2023 Virtual Artist in Residence
Congratulations to Deborah LaFogg-Docherty for becoming our May 2023 Virtual Artist in Residence. The Virtual Artist in Residence Program is awarded monthly to the artist (or photographer) who has submitted four or more entries to the ENDANGERED Fine Art & Photography Contest 2022 and has been selected by the Curatorial Committee as best interpreting the aims of the Contest.
Artist Statement
I select the subjects for my art that move me. It could be just to share their sheer beauty, a behavior such as how they care for their young, or how they share the environment around them. Although many people would argue that animals are nothing like people, there are similarities you can’t ignore. All they want to do is to raise a family and survive.
News
I have many things in the works for this summer. I will be teaching pastel on Zoom, making instructional videos, and preparing for workshops as well as painting for upcoming shows. Please keep an eye on my website for where and when things will be happening.
Why I Entered Endangered?
I entered the Endangered Fine Art & Photography Contest because it promotes what I believe in; it’s a community of like-minded artists and allows me to show my work to people that share a respect for nature. It also gets your work seen by people in general. Here is the best reason: it benefits the Center for the Apes!
