Artist Statement
I have loved photography since I was a small girl. In College, I received a BFA in Art, majoring in Photography. I spent my Junior Year Studying in England. I really LOVE taking photographs of anything that catches my heart, and I have always loved animals. I had two horses growing up that I trained and entered in local shows. It is just lately I have been captivated by our Zoo's two new babies with their moms; and the relationship they have with each other.
I select my subjects because they captivate me, and I love animals, birds, etc. Conservation is a new thing to me, but Joel Satore's Photo Ark has always been something I have been in awe of, and I am amazed at his dedication to preserving species!! I can't compare myself to him; but focusing on endangered species gives me an added purpose and drive. And; as I look up the animals and birds I am taking photos of and identifying, I am becoming more sensitive to how many species are endangered. And gives me the incentive to find more species to highlight!
