This Great Horned Owl was photographed in Gold Canyon, Arizona. I have a friend who has owls frequent her trees, and I was visiting. I was shocked to see the owl had captured a squirrel.

These are Green Sea Turtles taken in Maui, Hawaii.  This is a beach where 25 - 30 of them came up from the sea to sun themselves. They grouped themselves tightly, and they almost looked like rocks. The area was roped off and posted not to cross the barrier.

This is a Black Crowned Night Heron. I was shocked to see him at our local Botanical Garden shopping for food!!  But; this was a shallow area and sheltered.

These birds were photographed at Bald Head Island off the coast of North Carolina. There was a small freshwater pond surrounded by trees, and hundreds of birds came to roost at the end of the day.  What a sight, but birds vied for space!!! Great Egret.

This is a Cooper's Hawk. We do not see many hawks close up to our home, but on this occasion; he had landed very close to the water we set out for birds.  I was amazed at how fierce he (she) looked!!

These are two Sandhill Cranes.  The one in the front is the younger; the one in the back is the older. Young Sandhill Cranes remain with their parents for a good part of their first year and fly with them on their migration. (One place is in New Mexico, where these are taken.)

I'm not sure what kind of bird this is, but I loved the way the photograph changed when I put it through a filter.  I have sold more of this print than any other work. (It COULD be a Say's Phoebe.)

I was taking photographs late one afternoon in Albuquerque, New Mexico; of sandhill cranes.  Suddenly, a coyote strolled across the field in front of the cranes. And NOTHING happened, other than the coyote made it to the other side! Astounding!!

This green heron landed close to me and my friend as we had lunch at White Rock Lake.  I took a few photos; but after we had walked around some, coming back to our car; we saw the same heron fishing. I was astounded they could stretch out!!

There are wild monk parakeets (parrots) that have adapted to life in Dallas, Texas.  While visiting a friend, and looking around White Rock Lake; we came across some youngsters bathing on the warm day!!

This is a species of Morpho Butterfly. I am surprised that some butterflies are facing extinction.  This was taken in Phoenix, Arizona, in the Butterfly Wonderland.

This is an albino Ruby Throated Hummingbird.  I was honored to take hundreds of photos of this gliding, not-in-a-hurry hummingbird. He (she) was at a friend's garden for almost the entire week I was visiting Columbia, MO.  

My husband and I were in Columbia, MO, for his father’s funeral.  The city had a large snowstorm the eve before the funeral services.  While traveling to one of the places we were staying, I saw this beautiful deer in the woods; the fresh snow highlighted everything,

I was visiting a friend's garden in Columbia, MO, when this little hummingbird was zipping around for food.  It was the first time I was really happy with a photograph of a hummingbird!
