This painting represents the rehabilitation of an orang-utan in the sanctuary park of Tanjung Putting in Borneo. The orang-utan collects fruits directly from the trees rather than from the feeding platforms. This is a sign that she is returning back to nature and the rehabilitation will be successful. This is also a message of hope against palm oil plantations and their industry as well as humans using it.
I was born in the North of France in 1982. My background as an artist is unconventional as I was first a biologist and businessman before turning to art full-time. This background turned out to be a decisive opportunity that shaped in my mind a vision of the world that is both poetic and alarming. Confronted with the excesses and damage of the industries and living life-changing experiences in the wilderness at the same period of time in my life, I became more and more enthralled by the beauty of nature. I paint from this perplexity a creative and committed force that hypnotically guides the viewer into a contemplative reflection on the natural world.
Hopefully, my artworks work as poetic reminders to art enthusiasts that nature is incredibly rich and generous but it is fragile and endangered at the same time.
I have several on-going projects, with galleries and with institutions from different corners of the world. This is very encouraging as it confirms that the themes of conservation and environmental protection are crucial to a growing number of people. In spite of the emergency for the planet, we may well make a difference together and for the good of future generations.
I currently exhibit in Cincinnati at the show Art Comes Alive of the ADC Fine Art gallery until the 17th of March. I also have an upcoming show at the Line Gallery in London and at the Art Traffik showroom in Anglet in the South West of France.
