I have been photographing the daily activities of these animals that are living in their fragile existence due to what we are doing to our environment.  I have been stunned by their beauty and resilience.

In our busy lives, we often miss the beauty and simplicity around us. We are so caught up in the end destination or routine of the race that we pass by the simple miracles of the moment. My photography is an invitation to slow down and become aware. It provides a gateway into the unavailable or unnoticed pieces of the world that reflect or need healing, that demonstrate beauty, even in ugly situations, and connects us to a source of overwhelming gratitude for the treasures around us that we so often take for granted. Each piece is created as a reminder to take time to reflect, to dream, to wonder, to protect, to appreciate, and to wake up and witness the extraordinary right before our very eyes.

Blue Night Over Ballybunion Castle by Phoenix Marks. All Rights Reserved.

Every time I go out to photograph nature I really find myself being called to go within. Photography is my way of communing with the Universe, Source or God ...whatever one may call that divine essence. My love, my divine call to art, is to truthfully capture those moments when my soul is touched by the extraordinary wonder and beauty seen through my camera's inner lens -- from colorful bugs, smaller than a fingernail's tip, to ever changing magnificent paintings presented every morning and night for humanity's delight. South Florida's wetlands and the Everglades in particular are my primary photography studio and sanctuary. My approach to photography and life is grounded in my spiritual belief that "we are all one, we are all interconnected." As a nature photographer, the importance of nature is more than a scientific necessity for creating air, clean water and producing food. It is a sacred necessity for healing and bringing peace to the human soul.

Curiosity by Margaret Strong. All Rights Reserved.

I manage a non-profit child sponsorship program in Rwanda, Africa. Through my annual trips from Washington State to Rwanda, I became increasingly aware of the indigenous animals of Africa, and started studying the endangered Mountain Gorillas of Rwanda. For the past several years, it has been my dream to visit these amazing creatures, as there are a small number remaining in the wild. Visiting the gorillas was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. They are family natured, gentle and caring toward one another, inquisitive, and open to visitors. The pictures in my portfolio embody the personality of this gentle troupe. Mahoro, meaning grace in Kinyarwanda, the gentle but giant silverback, his young male offspring, several female wives, and a curious infant all took careful note of me, the visitor. They inspired me, increased my love for them, and enhanced my understanding and appreciation for this country and the children our sponsorship program serves.

Transformation-Circle of Life by Lisa Renee Ludlum. All Rights Reserved.

One of my favorite quotes is "it's not what you look at that matters-  it's what you see" by Thoreau.  I find this so true with the art of photography. As a life-long Florida gal, I have truly been blessed to live in this amazing state - a canvas of endless possibilities and diverse opportunities.

My lens is an extension of my eye and my camera is a window to my soul. Beauty surrounds us, yet the fine details are often missed in our busy lives. Understanding this concept, I have channeled my expertise as a photographer in conjunction with my passionate artistic style by capturing life's intricate moments.  I get great joy out of sharing my visionary images through the magic of photography.

Photography truly suspends moments in time, and will forever be a thumbprint of our present - a visual window for the future generations to enjoy from their past generations.

Surprise! by John Barrett. All Rights Reserved.

I am a wildlife and nature photographer, specializing in animal portraits and storytelling.  I have spent much of the past two decades in nature, trying to capture the beauty and emotional qualities of animals, particularly endangered species.  I have watched as some animal populations have thinned and habitats have been systemically diminished or destroyed.  It saddens me that the next generation will not have the opportunity to experience the wonders of nature that I have been so privileged to see.  It is for this reason that I will continue to photograph and document the majesty of nature. My goal is to have my images create a connection with the viewer and the animal, forging a bond that hopefully makes the viewer want to support and protect them.
