SUBMISSION: Waste Paper by Laura Coats
Made from the dots that collect inside office hole punch machines! Even the smallest waste of resources can have an impact on our planet. I work broadly across many disciplines from illustration to installation.
I favour form and shape, classical realism, representational mimesis but with a twist here and there; a touch of fantasy, exaggeration of colour, an interplay between reality and unreality.
My work is often attached to a sense of narrative, I love to tell stories and let instances of imagination emerge through my art.
I am naturally very curious and use observational drawing and visual enquiry, to explore the finer details of the world we inhabit.
I also like for my work to ask questions of the viewer: to communicate and to intrigue.
As a practitioner I like to work across a wide spectrum of media and in my studio work I am often concerned as much with diverse material experimentations as honing particular techniques to resolve individual works.
