SUBMISSION: Sunrise Prayer by Dennis Parrish
I want to show the plight of those who are endangered. Especially a group within the human race, the Native American Indian, the original people of north America. The Native American Indian has been pushed from their land, herded into small enclosures and have been outcasts since others 'settled' here and formed the United States. Forced from the mountains and plains they once roamed, protected, preserved, and called home, the Native American Indian now are struggling to survive not live! A once proud nation who truly sought to preserve and protect the environment, animals and other people was been exploited, robbed, mistreated and killed in the process of others building a free nation.
My work is intended to depict the level of pain and struggle a once proud race are enduring at the cost of human advancement or greed. Most important to me was to emphasis the innocence of these people and the hopelessness of their past, present and future situation.
