As snow accumulation in the mountains becomes restricted to higher and higher elevations, formerly snow-blanketed habitats will undergo major disturbances, such as fires, and new successional trajectories due to the loss and introduction of new species mixes. Magpies may be able to move to higher elevations, but, perhaps, not so well as its parasites and pathogens.
