Clay is a healing art form that really allows one to connect mind and body. The tactileness of the natural material satisfies an ancient approach to expressing ideas. Clay many times seems limitless in its ability to manifest ideas in the physical.

My sculpture is sensual and emotional and inspired by natural imagery of the human, plant and sea life. This visceral medium allows me to express my love of nature and beauty.

Growing up in the foothills of the mountains the forest floor supplied endless universes for me. I remember family mushroom expeditions always returning with treasures; rocks, lichens, pine cones, leaves and seed pods. The natural shapes inspire what I throw on the wheel and then how I alter and sculpt the piece. Hand painting glazes enhances the character and finally firing my work in reduction to high fire temperatures.
