Although I was painting anything and everything that I could as a child, I always thought I would become a theater director or choreographer when I grew up.
My parents motivated me and supported my talent and I became an illustrator for children’s books while attending art school.
I was always fascinated by the exaggerated motion, drama and tension in baroque and renaissance paintings and it continues to inspire my work today. I evolved into a pointillist painter. My technique is more graphic and more bold than Seurat’s pointillism of his day. I utilize 5 main colors that I mix and apply in larger dots of acrylic, with high contrast, on canvas.
I wish to communicate directly with the viewer, as if they are part of the painting and not just a spectator. I consider the observations made by those who contemplate my work. To me, that is when Art closes the circle, when you offer something and the viewer responds with his/her own interpretation back to the artist.
