My primary goal in painting, drawing or sculpting is to evoke in the viewer the emotional response that inspired me to make this art in the first place. The best possible reaction to my work would be for the viewer to have a sense of presence within the painting - to be there. If that happens, (and I understand that it may be rare), I have succeeded in giving the gift of an empathic art experience. Maybe even a somatic one. That is how I feel making it.
