"Golden Snub Nose Monkey from the Himalayan mountains jump-flying through the air, holding human forms in his flight. The "Monkey King" is a Golden Snub-nosed Monkey. My primary intention is to spotlight this beautiful and endangered monkey, in the high, freezing mountains of central China. Human activity is squeezing them towards the brink of extinction, being only 20,000 remaining on earth. There are a variety of eastern Monkey King myths. In all Monkey is trickster, a seeker, a warrior;he foolishly challenges the Gods, has many transformations, gets punished and gets redemption, a mythic stand-in for man.

The humans are rendered transparent for a variety of reasons: one, they are representing the”Naked” primate finding their place in the animal kingdom. They are also ghosts of Adam and Eve. They are re-examining the way humans see themselves, in full solidity, the ones all colored in, of primary importance, in "God's image";. Whereas other animals disappear at our hand, human extinction is unthinkable. I wanted to re-connect man (monkey holds the strings) on a more level playing field."
