SUBMISSION: Do Not Fade to Black by Linda Williams
Soft pastel and PanPastel on AS Colourfix Suede. "Portrait of a majestic flyer, the Andean Condor, that has shared our world, but so sadly is on the endangered species list. My heart just cries as we lose these fantastic creatures that have to share it with us!Reference photo generously provided by Sandy Scott.
My inspiration comes from the richness I find all around me in the natural world; in even the simplest form of beauty whether flora, fauna, even insects. Animals, for example, have so much character. I love bringing their essence to life; capturing the spark of life found in the eyes, stance, and attitudes adopted by living creatures. I am challenged to bring even a trace of the deep feelings evoked from what I see to my art. I enjoy reflections and the graceful flow of patterns they create. Not necessarily mirrored reflections, but the subject matter which is often a reflection of what I’m feeling about my subject. This is what I endeavor to share in my art. I do this with mixed medium through texture, color, composition and subject
My favorite mediums are watercolor and soft pastels, including PanPastels. I have a never ending fascination for the effects of low-key compositions, lost and found edges, and subtle transitions."
