With the destruction of over 32 million acres of forests each year what will happen to life if this continues? The most dramatic impact is a loss of habitat for millions of species.  Seventy percent of Earth’s land animals and plants live in forests, and many cannot survive the deforestation that destroys their homes.  This piece was created using natural fibers; silk was dyed using both tea and indigo dying methods. Natural cotton was used to diffuse the lights.   The fiber sculpture represents the tree of knowledge and the pearls at the base of the tree represent wisdom.  It speaks to how we should become aware to what is happening to our plant.
