Submission: Endangered Species 2 by Lynne Mann-Hallmark

Endangered Species 2 depicts deep, lush, jungle vegetation shielding the young vulnerable woman hiding with the leopard. The painting portrays a calm and almost serene connection between the plants, herself and the leopard. There is only a subtle hint of awareness through the woman's eyes that her safety may only be an illusion. Our entire planet is endangered; plants, birds, reptiles, mammals, animals and humans alike. The painting reflects the oneness we have with all the earth's inhabitants. We are called to be conscious and mindful of our responsibility of shielding our beautiful planet from harm's way.

Henri Rousseau painted "The Dream" his jungle paintings were an inspiration. I love the simplicity of which he painted the broad green leaves and the naked reclining woman so comfortable among the wild animals.

I would like to tell my story. It just so happens that the rain has stopped and the sun is out. It is the perfect evening to have a deck party with wine, food, flowers, friends and an abundance of wonderful candles. Instead, I shall write my story and maybe slip in an impromptu party this evening as well . My paintings are about life, my life. The paintings are rich in color and just the right amount of unpredictability. Hopefully, I will always keep my viewers guessing as to what I shall paint next, not unlike a really good novel with just the right amount of suspense. My paintings are about my travels, people and experiences I have encountered, social issues , environmental issues, great masters and simple folk, whatever inspires my heart to paint. I paint with pastel, oils whatever it takes to master what I want to portray. I love, love, love painting people and their emotions which we all share and treasure. I embrace the spirit world as well.
