SUBMISSION: Dangerous Intent by Lori Lee
Dangerous Intent is a colored pencil drawing of an Amur Leopard done with Prismacolor colored pencils on Stonehenge Fawn paper. Reference photo by wildlife photographer Gary Jones with full permissions given. When most people think of leopards, they think of them on the African Continent. But there is a rare and beautiful leopard in the Russian and Far East provinces called the Amur Leopard. This beautiful animal is critically endangered and is on the very brink of extinction due to poaching for its incredible fur.
I decided to draw this gorgeous fella because of the intensity in his eyes and determination and dangerous intentions radiating from him. Leo Tolstoy once said "Art is not a handicraft, it is the transmission of feeling the artist has experienced."
I love drawing realism to show the true beauty of my subject as well as the emotion coming from them and to tell their story.
