Bengal Tigers by Jordan Shapot. All Rights Reserved. My work depicts subject matter comprised of seemingly random and increasingly chaotic mark making. The notion of organized chaos has proven to be a constant objective in my creative process. In order to focus on the essence of an object, I must first visual deconstruct it. Then I build pattern and shape with expressive, bold brushstrokes and vibrant colors to project the essence and energy of the subject matter. This method of media application adds a strong sense of movement to my work.
I am constantly mindful of the beauty, truth, and spirit that exist in everything around. In nature, seemingly simple objects may be examined closer to reveal a complex and chaotic beauty. This often leads me to look to natural stimuli for inspiration.
As I proceed, I intend to continue to move closer towards the dichotomous line between representational and abstract art, while exploring how my experience of an object relates to my creative process.
