Mindful Manatee' 20'x16' painting was inspired by our local manatees also called 'sea cows' as they eat seagrasses and other aquatic plants which is why manatees are good indicators of an ecosystem’s health; when they thrive their environment flourishes with life. Hundreds of manatees have died in Florida this year. They are protected and threatened due to Pollution destruction of habitat recreational activities lethal watercraft hits and fishing line entanglement. Calves remain close to their mother for up to 2 years dependent for nutrition and learning about feeding and resting areas travel routes and warm water refuges.
