ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2021 Submission

Art has always been part of my life. I loved working with colored pencils as soon as I discovered them as a fine art medium. I work realistically and I like the smooth texture and fine details that can be achieved with colored pencils.

My work is inspired by nature, my travels, and the beauty I find in everyday objects.

Standing Tall was inspired by a giraffe I observed while I was on safari in Botswana. Giraffes are such beautiful animals. I really enjoyed creating this piece.

My painting was done with colored pencils and erasers on double-sided drafting film using a process called drawing by subtraction. After coating the film with a pencil wash, I began by erasing and slowly building up color layer by layer. I enjoy the process of watching my painting slowly emerge.

Primarily a colored pencil artist, I also enjoy East Asian brush painting. More ENDANGERED: Art4Apes submissions on | Facebook a4a.news/fb | Instagram a4a.news/in | Twitter a4a.news/tw
