ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2020 Submission

We've lost our connection to other species, endangering and exploiting sentient individuals in the process. Every one has a story, whether used for experimentation, food or entertainment, living captive in a zoo, or facing increasing perils in the wild. Their stories are inextricably linked with our own, and like ours, are filled with both loss and hope.

A Signature Member of both Society of Animal Artists and Artists for Conservation, I actually define myself as a portrait artist, striving to portray my subjects as individuals - for it is surely as individuals that they see themselves. Through each portrait, I encourage people to acknowledge another sentient being, and empathize with his or her story. There may be no better way to convey that other animals have the right to life and freedom from harm, than by focusing on species closest to our own - non-human great apes.
