ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission

North Dakota's largest ground squirrel, Black-tailed Prairie Dogs are cute social animals. Their habitat has been reduced to 1% of its historic amount due to grassland conversion and concentrated poisoning. Numerous other species of conservation priority depend on them for habitat and food.

As a photographer, I am devoted to practice and technique. I am a firm believer that like in any other trade, excellence can only be achieved by painstaking dedication to mastering every aspect of your craft, no matter how technical or innocuous.

Through my pictures I then try to convey my vision of the natural world to the viewer. With my images at the core to safeguard continuity of detail and authenticity, I add color, texture and depth, until each piece rises up from its earthbound roots into a universe where the laws of physics are governed only by the limits of the observer's imagination.

For me, photography is a process of communication, a process that is both a passion and a privilege to participate in, a process whose success or failure depends entirely on the artist's capacity to project her or his ideas onto the onlooker's perception.
