SUBMISSION: Captured Innocence by Amanda Collins
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
My piece 'Captured Innocence' shows the pure love and bond between mother and baby. As a mother myself my heart was drawn to this piece. I can relate to that overwhelming feeling to nurture and protect. Even in a seemingly grim situation, the gorilla mother comforts her baby. What could very well be the last generation of its species; this baby Mountain Gorilla is depicted in complete innocence as it cuddles up to its mother. This piece is done entirely in colored pencil. Various shades of color are used to create depth texture and shine in the hair and skin. Enhanced blues and purples were used to give this piece life.
