My work originates from the idea of pointillism, but has developed in a style, slightly, different than the traditional form. Though I often create works in the style of realism, the dot technique evolved from dire circumstances, in which I was left with little use of my hands, after a severe accident. Unable to grasp a brush or pencil, I began experimenting by dripping dots with the tip of a brush on canvas. After much trial and error, I discovered a method that accommodated my need for painting and allowed recovery time for my hands. This style has been a signature of my art for a few years now. Though I am now recovered, I have continued to use this form of pointillism as one of my preferred artistic methods.

For this particular piece, ""Armored,"" I chose the pointillism style to show vibrancy in a mandala style pattern. I also wanted to portray the beauty of the Pangolin's incredible scale armor with metallic reflection.
