SUBMISSION: Tusks of White and Lantern Light by Talesha Hogan
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
Though the path is uncertain and often times lonely this Majestic Elephant continues to lead by lantern light beneath the starry night's sky. Notice the lantern lends to the stars. The lush grass closes behind on this long journey for a worthy mission. Acrylic on Stretched Canvas.
I know animals have a soul. For me, it's never a question of whether they do or not, it is merely a matter of truly seeing them in their brilliance. I love portraying animals with objects that lead the way .. a lantern, a light, maybe a simple sparkle in their eyes that show their depth. They love, play, learn, teach and mourn and sometimes they lead better than we do. I strive to show these animals expressing meaning through my canvas, I cant help but feel I owe it to them, to somehow reveal them.
I know animals have souls. It's my levy to show it in some small way. For my artistry, I use many mediums from watercolor, oils, acrylic and even silver, clay and song.
When I am not painting, My partner and I are rescuing the littlest among us, be it a squirrel, bird, dog or the like. Animals speak to my heart. I do my best to speak for them.
