SUBMISSION: Snapper by Katherine Liepe-Levinson
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
The Snapping Turtle is the official reptile of New York State. It's habitats include ponds lakes streams and even urban waterways all of which are becoming increasingly polluted.
My Earth/Water Series is on-going explorations of local waterways, wetlands, beaches, and fresh water pond habitats in The Hamptons and the New York City area. These studies are a testament to the preciousness of the ever-diminishing natural environments.
The unusual vibrant colors and patterns in these works are natural results produced through: available light; selected camera angles; shifting wind patterns on the water and in the foliage; refracted reflections on the water surface; and fast shutter speeds.
