ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission

This White Rhino is a Mixed media piece on canvas. It's a collaboration between Dean Russo and Joann Amitrano.

My work is a balance of structure and abstraction. For me music and fine art should have the same qualities. A familiar melody with an added sense of chance. I begin each piece with an accurate underdrawing, this basis of structure gives the work a heartbeat. I then overlay color and symbols as an improvisational rift to tell the story of the subject.

Experimentation plays a large role in my work, as I find myself always learning and reevaluating as I go. Those re-evaluations will find their way into my next piece.

The vibrancy of my palette speaks directly to my observation of the subject. I am compelled to create work that evokes positivity and happiness and I find that these feelings are best achieved when a balance exists between realism and freedom.
