SUBMISSION: Life Cycle of the Atala by Karen Schnell-Chisholm
ENDANGERED: Fine Art & Photography Contest 2019 Submission
Life Cycle of the Atala is from from my series of Narrative Fiber Paintings considering global warnings which can be hung or worn. The idea of wearing the piece allows one to embrace the issue of human impact upon species and habitats which either support or endanger them. In my practice as an artist , I am constantly seeking new techniques and materials as my voice. Using fiber as a painting medium expands the concept of what a painting can be and opens new path ways for me to explore. I find my art making speaking to environmental issues either directly or in a more subtle and conceptual voice.
